The Gugg Gallery at Hilltown Commons

RENNSELAERVILLE - Hilltown Commons’ newly enlarged gallery space, “The Gugg”, formerly known as the Guggenheim Pavillion, will hold its second show of the season with “Primal Elements”, featuring the art of Natalie Boburka and Leslie Yolen, beginning Thursday, Sept. 11 and will run through Sunday, Oct. 5. The exhibit celebrates the bonds between the work of these local visual artists who share a deep relationship with the natural world, using materials as small as seeds and ideas as grand as Quantum Physics to create their creative works. The Gugg Gallery is open daily, 10am-5pm, seven days a week with plenty of parking and wheelchair accessible. RENSSELAERVILLE - You’re graciously invited to a community sound bath event at Hilltown Commons, Wednesday, Sept. 17. Visitors are encouraged to come and let the vibrations soothe their ears, mind, and body while the eyes delight in the art exhibit, Primal Elements, celebrating nature art created by Natalie Boburka and Leslie Yolen. As part of this event, Boburka will use a variety of crystal and metal singing bowls, bells, rain sticks, gong, and chimes that will take participants on an inner journey of intense relaxation. Visitors are encouraged to bring something to rest on comfortably on the floor such as a mat, recliner chair, pillows, blanket, and water. Artforms

GUILDERLAND - Artforms is pleased to re-host May Pang’s The Lost Weekend, photography exhibition, featuring Pang’s private photo collection of musician, John Lennon. For two years, Pang has toured with her images and the responses to the exhibits have been overwhelming. As part of the Guilderland exhibit, new never-before seen images will be exhibited. Pang will also be in attendance at the gallery to share her warm and memorable stories of John Lennon and his famous friends. The exhibit is free and open to the public. LENOX, MA - Shakespeare & Company held its New England premiere of MOTHER PLAY: a play in Five Evictions, written by Paula Vogel Sunday, Aug. 31. The production, currently running through Oct. 5, is a sharp-witted, darkly comedic exploration of family, identity, and survival as it follows hardheaded Phyllis (played by Tamara Hickey) and her children, Martha (played by Zoya Martin) and Carl (played by Eddie Shields), across four decades and five apartments, enduring cockroach infestations, painful conflicts, and the push and pull of love and expectation. The play had its Broadway Premiere in 2024, earning four Tony nominations, two Drama Desk Awards and an Outer Critics Circle Award. COHOES - Creative License Theatre Collective opened the month with the Lortel Award-winning, haunting, and humorous play, The Comeuppance, written by playwright, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins at Cohoes Music Hall, Friday, Sept. 5. The play focuses on a group of old classmates that meet to pregame their twentieth high school reunion and everyone is nervous for the night ahead. As alcohol and pot help the self-declared “Multi-Ethnic Reject Group” let their guards down, they begin to reminisce about their teenage selves and reveal how their lives have unfolded since graduating. The Comeuppance focuses on millennials and their reckoning with the world they will soon inherit. Schenectady Light Opera Company (SLOC Musical Theater)

SCHENECTADY - SLOC Musical Theater will present their first show of their 99th season of community theatre, Dreamgirls, beginning Friday, Sept. 12 at 8:00 p.m. The production will run through Sunday, Sept. 21. The production is based on the rise of the young female singing trio. The Dreams, as they navigate the turbulent world of the 1960’ music industry. Inspired by the story of Motown and similar female-led groups, this musical explores the themes of ambition, fame, love, and betrayal as the group struggles with shifting loyalties and the price of success. Dreamgirls stars Janae-Marie Smith (Effie White), Alanna Aleece (Deena Jones), Kiessence Polk (Lorrell Robinson), Leo D’Juan (Curtis Taylor Jr.), Zach Kaiser (Jimmy Early), Ki’Mari Lavender (Michelle Morris), Daryl Hirschfield (C.C. White) and Kay Whelan (Marty Madison). ASL interpreters will be present for the Sept. 14 performance, and deaf or hard hearing patrons can visit the SLOC website to secure tickets.  Lake George Dinner Theatre


Incident at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, a new comedy by Katie Forgette, Directed by Jared Davidow, at Holiday Inn Resort (located at 2223 Canada Street, Lake George, NY 12845), Sept. 12-Oct. 11,2025, 7:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. 


LAKE GEORGE - The year is 1973 and this uproarious and tender comedy finds the cash-strapped O’Shea family trying to navigate the most turbulent day of their lives. When the Parrish priest overhears 19-year-old Linda O’Shea tell her younger sister about the “birds and the bees”, a family crisis breaks out. The play stars Lauren Schirnhofer (Linda), Buzz Roddy (Mike, Betty, Fr. Lovett), Lesley O’Donnell (Jo), Olivia Dybas (Becky), and Laurie Dawn (Terri). The dinner shows are held Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with dinner seating beginning at 6pm and curtain show starting at 7:30 p.m. The lunch shows will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with the luncheon seating beginning at 11:30pm, and the curtain show starting at 1:00pm. Ticket prices range from $49-$89 depending on if viewers want to see the show only or see both the show and eat their lunch or dinner. Steamer No. 10 Theatre

ALBANY - Harbinger Theatre will present their 17th Capital Region premiere of the Off-Broadway play, Deep Blue Sound, at Steamer No. 10 Theatre. The play, directed by Chris Foster, will host a free preview Thursday, Sept. 11 (7:30pm). Opening Night, along with the first Talk-Back Friday will be Friday, Sept. 12 (7:30pm). Saturday, Sept. 13 at 6:30pm, there will be a Neighborhood Night reception prior to the 7:30pm show with light fare, soft drinks, prizes, and celebrating the Pine Hills Neighborhood Association. Additional showings will be held Sunday, Sept. 14 and Sept. 21 (2:00pm), Friday, Sept. 19 and Saturday, Sept. 20 (7:30pm). Deep Blue Sound is set in a picturesque island in Puget Sound in which a town is in crisis. The whales have gone missing and the unofficial Mayor Annie is searching for a solution to find the missing whales. Deep Blue Sound is a funny and moving play about the human connection and the connections that humans long to make to other people and the world around us. Barrington Stage Company

 PITTSFIELD, MA - Barrington Stage Company is pleased to present the world premiere of The Weekend: A Stockbridge Story, at Barrington Stage Company’s St. Germain Stage. The production will star Bill Army, Sasha Diamond, Molly Jobe, and Ben Rosenfield. The Weekend focuses on fresh perspectives, missed opportunities, and finding the courage to move forward again. It focuses on the story about a romantic getaway with just Beth, Tom, and Tom’s hopeless brother, Allan. The brother’s family cabin in Stockbridge, MA is full of memories for all of them, some wonderful and some, world-ending. As Beth attempts to reconnect with Tom, Allan unexpectedly reconnects with his past and Tom can not help but intervene. ANCRAM - The Ancram Center for the Arts will continue its 10th Anniversary season this fall with Penelope, a cabaret-style musical re-telling of Homer’s The Odyssey, told from the point of view of Penelope, Odysseus’s wife. The play will be staged, beginning Wednesday, Sept. 17, and will run on select dates through Sunday, Sept. 28. The play, starring Eva Steinmetz as Penelope, focuses on the time when Odysseus left Penelope alone for ten years as he served in the Trojan War. While Penelope, trapped at home feeling lonely and isolated, ran the city of Ithaca and fenced off suitors. Grace McLean, who starred in Suffs, a 2022 musical written by Shania Taub, plays the titular role of Penelope. This will be the first theatrical run to feature McLean in this starring role that she wrote for herself. R’ville Stage Creations

RENSSELAERVILLE - R’ville Stage Creations will host the Albany County premiere of Sean Allison’s one-man show, If It Bleeds, It Leads, Saturday, Sept. 20 at Conkling Hall, 7:00pm. This one-night-only show is a pay-what-you-can show, with proceeds benefitting the Mental Health Association of Columbia and Greene Counties Child Advocacy Center, an organization selected by Allison and the R’ville Stage Creations Board of Directors. The play tells Allison’s story of working during the 1990s in New York City as a breaking news chaser. Allison, a Hudson, NY resident, has performed his show at venues across the Hudson Valley and beyond. His show first premiered at Theatre Row in NYC in 2023, where it also won for Best Storyteller Award at the United Solo Festival. After the production ends, Allison will have a post-show discussion. This production contains mature language and themes, and parental discretion is advised. Seating for the show is limited, and reservations are recommended to secure a seat. PS21 Center for Contemporary Performance


Sad Boys in Harpy Land, written by Alex Tatarsky at the Pavillion Theater (located at 2980 Route 66, Chatham, NY 12037), Friday, Sept. 26- Saturday, Sept. 27,2025, 7:30 p.m. 


CHATHAM - PS21 Center for Contemporary Performance Will present Sad Boys in Harpy Land, a falling apart coming-of-age tale written by playwright and self-proclaimed experimental clown artist, Alex Tatarsky. This one-person show is a semi-autobiographical tour-de-force that takes place in the hell’s ape of the mind. Embracing the spiral, the unfinished and broken bits, Tatarsky will usher audiences through a series of existential vignettes to examine how depression often masquerades as individual malady, when it might be better thought of as a shared sadness. Please note that capacity for each performance is limited and advance ticket purchasing is recommended for this show. General admission for non-members is $25, general admission for PS21 members is $20, and $15 for students. TROY - WAMM (Women Are Making Music) is a Capital Region-based movement that’s dedicated to uplifting and connecting women musicians through collaboration, performance, and community support, with the focus on celebrating women-led music and creating welcoming spaces where women are heard and seen. The festival is co-produced by Niki Kaos of Kaos Industries and Peak Music Studios. Live music will be provided by Shannon Tehya & The Troupe, Kitty Rodeo, Luminous Crush, The Va Va Voodoos, Gloria Duo, Joanne DelCarpine (Joanne’s Driving The Bus), Amy-Lin Stezak, Erin Powers, and Mark & Jill. There will also be women-owned businesses featuring art, handmade goods, and creative merchandise that will also be participating in the festival. Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center (PVMCC)

PETERSBURGH - Capital Region singer/songwriter and guitarist Warren Sieme returns to Petersburgh to perform as part of the Fox Hollow Music & Art Cafe monthly event series. Sieme, an Albany County-based musician, will perform a set of original songs that evoke the best of the acoustic singer and songwriters of the 60s and 70s, as well as classic songs from the Great American Songbook and traditional folk tunes. Admission into the show is $5.00, and free for minors.


Proctors Theatre

AVERILL PARK - Sand Lake Center for the Arts (SLCA) will present Capital Region musician Peter Pashoukos perform live on stage at the Averill Park venue, Saturday, Sept. 27. Pashoukos, the former lead guitarist of Garland Nelson’s band, Soul Session, as well as The McKrells, has performed at festivals, both nationally and internationally as a ukulele artist. He will be performing music spanning the genres of roots, folk, rock, and jazz, as well as songs supporting his debut original album, “A Piece For You”.
