Albany Center Gallery’s All Hallow e’en Art Path at Albany Center Gallery (located at 488 Broadway, Suite 107, Albany, NY 12207), on view for October 2025 


ALBANY - Albany Center Gallery held their final artist reception at their current location Friday, Oct. 3 to celebrate their pop-up exhibit, All Hallowe’en Art Path, in Downtown Albany. Visitors can take a path to check out the eerie artwork and support the nearby businesses along the way. This is all in collaboration with over 15 local artisans, businesses and Discover Albany, and is a public art project that will be available for viewing all October. Participating artists including Alicia Barton, Raina Briggs, Bailey Brown, Olivia Deep, Kayla Ek, Far Eye, Tyler Gandolfo, Nevaeh Hairston, Quill Harrison, Jack Jackal, Jessica June, Stephanie Levay, Artists of Modern Body Art, Casey Simmonds, Tattooshark, Caro Warren, Alex Waters and Xeze. Seneca Chief’s Bicentennial Voyage visit to Troy, NY; William D. Chamberlain Riverfront Park Friday, Oct. 17, 2025 (11:00am-6:00 p.m.) and Saturday, Oct. 18,2025 at Ryan’s Wake (10:00am-3:00pm, departure time: 3:45 p.m.), Seneca Boat tour continues along Hudson River through October 26,2025


TROY - The City of Troy, NY welcomed the historic Erie Canal boat, Seneca Chief, to the Troy Marina as part of the bicentennial voyage from Buffalo, NY to the New York Harbor, Friday, Oct. 17 at the Ryan's Wake at 11:00am. A welcoming ceremony occurred at 11:30 a.m. with commentary from Troy Mayor Carmella Mantello and staff from the Buffalo Maritime Museum. From noon-6:00 p.m, visitors can explore the Seneca Chief and its educational exhibits for free. The Seneca Chief will be docked Saturday, Oct. 18 outside Ryan’s Wake (located at 403 River St. #1, Troy, NY 12180) with public viewing hours from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. At 3:45 p.m., Seneca Chief will then set sail to depart and head to Albany to be docked by the USS Slater, for its showing, Sunday, Oct. 19. The boat will make stops into Hudson, Kingston, Cornwall-on-Hudson, Ossining, and stopping in New York City for its closing days, Saturday, Oct. 25 and Sunday, Oct. 26. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the crew and experience a living piece of New York’s History in celebrating the 200 years of the Erie Canal’s Historic Opening. Fusion 2025: A Fusion of Art and Technology at Albany Barn (located at 56 Second St., Albany, NY 12210), Friday, October 17,2025, 6-9:00 p.m.


ALBANY - Albany Barn, Electric City Barn, and Artistry Studios is proud to present its annual Anti-Gala fundraiser for Albany Barn, Inc., to support their artists who work and live within their facilities. This year’s theme is a Fusion of Art and Technology. The event, held Friday, Oct. 17, will feature live art and demos by TJ “Carpenter Hound”, Cat Jones, Far Eye, and Jae of 5pmLessons, check out the Albany Barn Artists in residence open studios, take part in a silent auction filled with art, experiences, and artisan wares, local culinary vendors, and more. Tickets for this event are still for sale until Friday, Oct. 17 at 12:00 p.m. All attendees for the fundraiser must be 21 years old and over to attend. Hildene The Lincoln Family Home 


Fall Wagon Rides at Hildene (located at 1005 Hildene RD, Manchester Center, VT 05255), Sunday, October 19,2025, 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.


MANCHESTER CENTER, VT - The Hildene farm staff will host the autumn wagon ride tours of the Eden one last time for the year Sunday, Oct. 19. Wagon ride stops include the greenhouse, pastures, orchard, wetland/floating boardwalk, apiary, animal barn, vegetable and flower gardens. Visitors can meet the farm animals and learn about Hildene’s diverse natural and cultivated ecosystems, and sustainable farming practices. Parking for this event is at the Welcome Center and the wagon ride is free with the price of the museum admission. MANCHESTER CENTER, VT - Ahead of Halloween, Hildene members are welcome to join Shawn Harrington for a walk and talk on the noteworthy individuals that were laid to rest in Dellwood Park on Hildene Road, directly next to the cemetery in Manchester Center, Friday, Oct. 24. Visitors are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and plan to walk in some mud. Bring a bottle of water and wear sunscreen or bug spray. Reservations for the walk are not required. For Liberation and For Life: The Legacy of Black Dimensions in Art and Jacob Lawrence: Three Series of Prints opening reception at Albany Institute of History and Art (located at 125 Washington Ave, Albany, NY 12210), Saturday, Oct. 25,2025, 6-8 p.m.


ALBANY - Come and celebrate the Albany Institute of History and Art’s newest exhibition, For Liberation and For Life: The Legacy of Black Dimensions in Art, and Jacob Lawrence: Three Series of Prints, Saturday, Oct. 25. Visitors can enjoy some live music by Azzaam Hameed and Annette Harris, along with a cash bar and light refreshments. Visitors can meet many of the exhibiting artists and the exhibition co-curators and BDA Board Members, Daesha Devon Harris, Jacqueline Lake-Sample, and Stephen J. Tyson, along with a brief gathering in the galleries under Roots (Wood Arch) by Danny Killion. The reception is free and open to the public. Trick or Treat in the Park at Art Omi Sculpture and Architecture Park (located at 1405 County Route 22, Ghent, NY 12075), Saturday, October 25,2025, 1-3 p.m. 


GHENT - Spooky season has arrived at Art Omi! Calling all witches, werewolves, and wicked creatures to come to Art Omi and take part in the annual Trick or Treat in the Park, Saturday, Oct. 25, for an afternoon of treats, candy, making art, and engaging in artwork. Harold Stevenson: Less Real Than My Routine Fantasy at Newmark Gallery, Art Omi (located at 1405 County Route 22, Ghent, NY 12075), on view through October 26,2025 


GHENT - Throughout most of his life and into the pre-Stonewall era, Harold Stevenson was excluded from institutional exhibitions and collections. Stevenson’s Artist career was filled with near breaks. In 1963, he was invited to take part in the exhibition, Six Painters and the Object at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. When curator Lawrence Alloway saw a photograph of Stevenson’s painting, The New Adam, the curator cut the work and replaced Stevenson with Robert Rauschenberg. Less Real Than My Routine Fantasy is Stevenson’s first institutional solo exhibition in New York, and it traces 40 years of his exploration of the human body as an environment across paintings, drawings, and writing. 16th Annual Taste of Sand Lake at Old Daley on Crooked Lake (located at 2339 NY-43, Averill Park, NY 12018), Wednesday, Oct. 29,2025, 6-9 p.m.


AVERILL PARK - Sand Lake Center for the Arts (SLCA) will host the 16th Annual Taste of Sand Lake at the Old Daley on Crooked Lake, Wednesday, Oct. 29. Come on out and enjoy an evening of local food, live and silent auctions, music provided by T.L. Holloway, and plenty of Sand Lake restaurants serving up special meals. The sponsorship or ticket purchase ensures that SLCA can serve its mission of providing quality artistic programs in Sand Lake. Honorary Chair for this event is Valerie Jeffers. Art Opportunities 


 Grateful for Art Pop-Up with a Purpose Call for Art at Electric City Apartments (located at 236 State Street, Schenectady, NY 12305), Submissions due before Saturday, October 25,2025 


SCHENECTADY - Gallery 5 Schenectady is seeking artists to showcase their work in the juried, final pop-up art exhibition of 2025 for their upcoming exhibit, Grateful for Art. The exhibit is open to all traditional visual arts (2D and 3D) in painting, sculpture, drawing, fiber art, glasswork, printmaking, illustration, digital art, and mixed media. There is no requirement on the time as to when the artwork was made. Three to five images of the artwork will be accepted and each art piece needs to be able to fit through a 7’H x3’ W door.  Artists must be 18-years-old and over to participate. The submitted works will be curated by a small panel of judges and there is a $25 submission fee to submit the work. TROY - The Suzuki Strings students of area musician, Will Hayes, cordially invite spectators to attend their fall recitals at the RPI Chapel and Cultural Center in Troy, NY, Saturday, Oct. 18. PETERSBURG - October may be a spooky season, but it’s also music night at the Petersburg Veterans Memorial Community Center (PVMCC) as vocalist, guitarist, and fiddler, Val Siobhan takes the performance stage. Siobhan who performs original songs in a folk-fusion, traditional Celtic songs, and popular cover songs, will use the loop pedal to lay down multiple harmonies for them as a solo artist. Siobhan, who’s been in the music scene for over 30 years, grew up playing the fiddle alongside their late mother, Dr. Alannah Fitzgerald, in her various Celtic music projects. Admission to this show is $5.00, and FREE for minors.

Tom Wopat “Luke Duke”, live at Wood Theater (located at 207 Glen Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801), Saturday, Oct. 18,2025, 7:00 p.m.


GLENS FALLS - Country artist, Broadway, TV and Movie star, Tom Wopat, known as “Luke Duke,” on the Dukes of Hazzard TV show, will be performing on the Charles R. Wood Theater stage as part of Kevin Richards’ ‘Close-Up’ country concert series. Prior to the show's start, fans will be able to meet Wopat and have their photo taken with The General Lee at 2:00 p.m. As part of this show, Wopat will perform from his catalog of Country and Broadway hits, as well as take part in a “Live on Stage” interview with Kevin Richards before his performance. Wopat is also a two-time Tony nominee for his starring role in Broadway’s “Annie, Get Your Gun” and “A Catered Affair”. GLENS FALLS - Dion Pride, the son of Country legend Charley Pride, will also take the stage at Charles R. Wood Theater where he will join Kevin Richards to perform songs and share stories that honor the groundbreaking career of his father. Dion Pride will perform several of his father’s songs, including “Kiss an Angel Good Morning”. Reunited and performing together for the first time in ten years, the Steve Morse Band returns to the historic Cohoes Music Hall for a long-awaited live set. The band features three music icons; Guitar Player Hall of Famer & former guitarist of Deep Purple, Steve Morse, Dave LaRue of Flying Colors, and percussionist, Van Romaine, who’s performed with the likes of Billy Joel and Naughty by Nature. The Earth is our Home featuring live music from John and Anne Marie Farrell at Spencertown Academy (located at 790 Route 203, Spencertown, NY 12165), Saturday, Oct. 25,2025, 10:00-11:00 a.m. 


SPENCERTOWN - Come see singers, songwriters, and recording artists, John Farrell and his wife, Anne Marie Farrell, perform a variety of songs about nature, animals, and planet earth to young children at Spencertown Academy, Saturday, Oct. 25. Spectators will be able to learn sign language and sing some call-and-response songs. Young children ages 3-7, along with adult companionship, are welcome to attend. John Farrell, who’s also an author and peace educator, has been taking part in assembly programs, workshops, and family concerts at schools, conferences, and community events. Ann Marie Farrell, a retired elementary and preschool teacher, is also a guitarist and singer and has also presented school programs and concerts. Shakespeare & Company’s Center for Actor Training Workshop Sessions, Oct. 4-Oct. 5,2025 (New York City, NY) and Oct. 18-Oct. 19,2025 (Los Angeles, CA)


LENOX, MA - This month, Shakespeare & Company will have two weekend intensive programs that are designed for professional actors and theater students who seek an introduction to Shakespeare & Company’s training methods as well as for alumni who wish to refresh and reconnect with the work. Application deadlines are typically one week prior to the start of the workshop; applicants may be accepted after the deadline as space allows. The workshops are limited to 14 participants, and the minimum age requirement is 18 years old. Tuition fees for the weekend intensives are $375. SARATOGA SPRINGS - Home Made Theater will present the stage adaptation of Agatha Christie’s novel, A Murder is Announced, beginning Friday, Oct. 10, and will run through Sunday, Oct. 19. Play synopsis: In the play, a notice in a Chipping Cleghorn newspaper announcing that a murder will take place in the evening at the home of Miss Blacklock. What seems to be a joke turns out deadly when the murder occurs. Inspector Craddock is on the case but it’s Miss Marple who helps unravel secrets, concealed identities, and mixed motives to expose the killer. ALBANY - Theater Voices will present The Children, written by Lucy Kirkwood, in four staged reading performances at Steamer No. 10 Theatre, beginning Friday, Oct. 17, and running through Sunday, Oct. 18. The story focuses on two retired nuclear scientists living in an isolated cottage by the sea as the world around them crumbles. Together, they plan to live forever on yogurt and yoga until an old friend arrives, stirring up the past and shaking up the future with her frightening request. The cast features David Bunce, Barbara Richards, and Eileen Schuyler, with stage management by Cameron Coetzee. Admission to see The Children is free, with donations graciously accepted.

SARATOGA SPRINGS - Keely and Dou is a gripping and thought-provoking drama written by playwright, Jane Martin (pseudonym) that tackles the polarizing issue of abortion with raw intensity and emotional depth. When Keely, a young woman, is kidnapped by a radical anti-abortion group, she finds herself confined under the watchful eye of Du, a devout pro-life advocate. What unfolds in this production is a searing battle of wills and beliefs as these two women engage in a powerful, deeply human dialogue that challenges everything they thought and knew about morality, faith, and freedom. ALBANY - The Theatre Program of the University of Albany’s Department of Music and Theatre will kick off its 2025 theatre season with In The Blood, a contemporary drama written by Pulitzer-Prize winning playwright, Suzan-Lori Parks, starting Wednesday, Oct. 22, and will run through Sunday, Oct. 26. This production will feature the acting of SUNY Albany student actors and work of student designers who were mentored by the Theatre faculty. In The Blood, based on Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter, is seen through the lens of Hester, a destitute single mother of five children. The play will examine the moralism, hypocrisy, and inequality of the oft sought and rarely attained American dream. ANCRAM - Ancram resident and actress, Mary Murfitt will present Framed: The Murder of Beulah Simons at Ancram Center for the Arts. Based on true events, Framed will uncover a love triangle that ends with a murder and a questionable trial that leads to a young farmhand being convicted for committing the crime. This production is a musical written and starring Murfitt, and is part of Ancram Center’s Play Lab. The Play Lab provides theatre artists from all practices with the time, space, and resources to develop a new, innovative theater project that is presented in the future at Ancram Center or elsewhere. CATSKILL - October is the month of Magic, when witches and devils come out to play and after the success of Peter Samelson’s production of Cold Case (Magic Love Mystery), master magician Peter Samelson will bring his performance of Devils ‘N Details to the Bridge Street Theatre stage beginning Oct. 24. and run until Oct. 26. Show synopsis: Watch as the world you believe is real begins to unravel, revealing the little devils lurking all around us. The big picture, with its many small details and things unseen, combines to create a world of mystery. Magic, in this case, becomes a way of being in the world. Viewers will open their eyes to the hidden world of truth and lies, and some discoveries will make them laugh and be scared. SCHENECTADY - Now in its 44th year, Asbury Shorts USA is New York City's longest-running non-competitive touring exhibition of globally honored short films. This special event features a highly entertaining mix of comedy, drama, documentary, and animated shorts that are all previously honored at the world's top film festivals.
